Neatayam Tigcraft MOTO3
After another round of modifications to the MOTO3 Bike we decided to run at the last round of the NGRRC championship at Silverstone Saturday.
Heavy rain early in the morning left the track wet for the first part of the day, I entered Row for the formula 400 races as well just to get more testing done on the bike. Row went out for practice reappearing back in the pit lane after 3 laps saying that the throttle was sticking open! after a bit of head scratching it was found that the accelerator pump retaining pin was hitting the throttle body in some situations. This was quickly fixed.
Race 1 for Row was an open 400 race which we enterd on the day so Row was 37th on the grid, he said he could just see the lights from his grid position! track was sort of wet/damp so we had the bike on the now ageing wets. Row got a blinding start and gradually moved throught the field to finish a fine 21st place spending all of the race catching and overtaking poeple - good lad.
Race 2 was the GP125 race and with the track now showing a distinct dry line slicks were fitted. GO - Row got the hole shot was briefly headed on lap2 but then proceeded to pull out a lead finishing nearly 7 seconds ahead of the feld!
Race 3 was another open 400 race Row got up to 25th place but then dissapeared! after a few minutes anxious wait he re-appeared in the pit lane pushing the bike "it died coming out of the left hander" a quick check shows no mechanical problems and fuelling is once again the culprit a few minutes later and the problem is identified and solved (I did say this was a test day didn't I?)
Race 4 - Its raining again, Row is out on the now knackered wets (not worth putting a brand new set in for the last run of the year) once again Row gets the hole shot but after the 1st lap he comes round in 3rd place, I can see that he's not pushing it and the rain is now belting down! next lap and the 2nd place guy has dissapeard so Row has moved up to that postition. Row continues to circulate bring it home in an easy 2nd place, when he comes back up pit lane he points to the temp guage which is a 40Deg! ( we usually aim for at least 60 before riding the bike!) "I was taking it realy gentle dad, if there had been another lap I would have brought it in because of the engine temp, the tyres were sliding everywhere"
So thats it season over and another load of improvements to make over the winter
